The Chocolate War Ch1

From this week, I started to read the book called The Chocolate War. According to the back cover of the book, The book is about one young-adult called Jerry Renault who does not want to sell chocolates. The chapter one takes place at the field. I am not sure whether it is a field of American football or Rugby. The main character Jerry was practicing it. It seems that he does not like to play foodball because the book states, " he was stunned by the knowledge that pain isn't just one thing." He suffers a lots of pains. Even though playing the football seems hard for him, he doesn't give up because he is willing to be a football player.

It was amazing when I read the first chapter because the contents of the book doesn't relate to the book cover at all. It doesn't mean that I do not want to read. When I looked at the book cover, I could not expect that this book will talk about the football because the book cover shows one boy who has books in his hand. Interestingly, the narrator is the thied parson. So it makes me easy to read. However, I still do not understand the relationship between chocolate and the boy. I like this book so far because the main character is similar to my age, so there may be the situation that I can emphasize with his thoughts or opinions.

Think about the kind of person Jerry is in this first chapter. You wrote "Even though playing the football is hard for him, he doesn't give up because he is willing to be a football player." That's a very astute comment. It will help you to understand what he did later.
